GUWAHATI: Assam has been named the 'Fastest Mover State' by the Swachh Survekshan 2020, conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair.

Awarding Assam the first place in the category, Swachh Bharat Urban tweeted, "We congratulate the State of Assam for being awarded the 1st place in the “Fastest Mover State (Less Than 100 ULBs)” category.
Jharkhand, Haryana, and Uttarakhand have been named as the "Best Performing State" in the less than 100 ULBs category.
The results were announced by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at a ceremony on 20th August.

During the ceremony, a book titled ‘Report on Assessment of 97 Ganga Towns’ was also released.
This is the fifth edition of Swachh Survekshan, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2016.
