GUWAHATI: A mob attacked an elderly couple in Dagaon village near Assam-Meghalaya border for allegedly practicing witchcraft.
The couple, Lunid Sangma (80) and Pritila Sangma (65) were allegedly attacked and tortured by the villagers on Saturday night, May 11 and later rescued by Boko police next day.

The couple was first admitted to a primary health centre in Boko for treatment, but then had to be rushed to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for further treatment, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Jogen Barman, OC of Boko police station, said that no arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident. The police is currently investigating the matter and a case will be registered for the same soon.
