GUWAHATI: Amid rising COVID-19 positive cases in the Jorhat district of Assam, the District Administration has announced that all retail shops, vegetable and fruit shops in the entire district will remain closed from July 12 to July 13, 2021.
However, essential services like pharmacies, dairy and newspaper shops will continue to remain open.
This was confirmed to G Plus by Damodar Barman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Jorhat.
"Shops and markets will remain closed for two days on July 12 and 13. Essential services like Pharmacy, (both human and animal), dairy shops, and paper shops will continue to remain open," Barman added.
This development has been made to stop the spread of COVID-19 infections in Jorhat. Any violation of the order will attract action under the provisions of "The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020" and "The Disaster Management Act-2005", "The Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and under other relevant laws of India.
