Assam: Khel Maharan Begins Today

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has kick-started its most extensive sports event, the “Khel Maharan,” which will run from November 1 to November 15.

This initiative encompasses participation from every corner of the state, with contests taking place in every Gaon Panchayat, every Village Council Development Committee (VCDC), every municipality, and every Municipal Area Committee (MAC).

The “Khel Maharan” features fierce competition in five sporting disciplines: Athletics, including 100, 200, 400, and 800-meter races; Football; Kabaddi; Kho Kho; and Volleyball.

A staggering 41,71,074 players will be participating in this event.

Additionally, a total of 14,08,817 individuals have registered for the event, along with 45,248 registered teams.

Competitions are categorised into four segments: Under-19 Men, Under-19 Women, Above-19 Men, and Above-19 Women.

The “Khel Maharan” is structured in multiple phases, with upcoming events at different levels.

The Legislative Assembly Constituency level competitions are slated to take place from November 27 to December 11, 2023.

Subsequently, the District Level competitions will be held from December 19 to December 23, 2023, followed by the State Level competitions from January 6 to January 10, 2024.
