GUWAHATI: BJP MLA from Hojai, Shiladitya Dev, attending a centenary celebration on November 5 for nobel laureate and legendary poet, Rabindra Nath Tagore said that Karimganj be changed to ‘Sribhumi’.
"Rabindranath called Sylhet as Sribhumi and originally Karimganj was part of Sylhet. So if we demand to rename Karimganj as Sylhet, then it would be a befitting tritute to Rabindranath", said Shiladitya Dev.
The BJP MLA further added that he will talk to CM Sonowal in this regard and will definitely try and see that Karimganj to be called as Sribhumi in the near future.
