Assam: Jorhat Man Dies Days After Getting First Shot of Covishield Vaccine

GUWAHATI: A man in Jorhat has reportedly died after taking the first jab of the Covishield vaccine. The person, who died on March 23 is said to have tested positive for COVID-19 a few days after getting vaccinated earlier this month.
 

According to reports, Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati confirmed that 67-year-old Sankar Prasad Khound, who hails from the Atilagaon area died on the night of Tuesday, March 23. She further said that Sankar was suffering from co-morbidities and his body was cremated as per COVID-19 protocol.

Talking to G Plus, doctor J Umbon from Jorhat Medical College said, "Khound had a lung infection, heart issues, and electrolyte imbalance. Due to his deteriorating health, he was kept under Non-Invasive Ventilation, his blood pressure was low and his heart rate was high for which he was given medications for the complications but he couldn't survive." 


Moreover, six members of Khound's family have tested positive for Coronavirus, Dr Umbon added. 


Sankar Prasad Khound and his wife Gayatri Khound both took the first dose of the Covishield vaccine on March 4. Later on March 13, he was hospitalized after testing positive for the novel Coronavirus. Khound’s wife tested positive for COVID-19 a day after Khound's hospitalization. She was admitted on March 14, according to Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Korati.
