GUWAHATI: Jorhat Addl. Superintendent of Police, Prakash Sonowal, lodged an FIR against 14 police officers in Jorhat with charges of conspiracy, forgery and theft for not submitting charge sheets.
According to a report in TOI, following the directive by the Superintendent of Police, Jorhat an FIR has been filed against the 14 officers for not submitting charge sheets for some cases despite records showing the submission of the same. The officers have also been accused of destroying vital documents with the intention to save the culprits.

They have been booked under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy), 379 (theft), 466 (forgery of record or public register), 204 (destruction of documents or electronic records to prevent its production as evidence), 205 (false personation for purpose of act or proceeding in suit or proceeding in suit or prosecution) and 217 (public servant disobeying direction of law with intention to save person from punishment or property from forfeiture) of the Indian Penal Code.
