GUWAHATI: A temporary ban has been imposed on the movement of heavy commercial vehicles, including 12-wheelers and long trucks/trailers exceeding 24 feet in length, along a specific stretch of National Highway-27 (NH-27) between Jatinga and Harangajao in Dima Hasao district.

This decision has been undertaken in response to frequent rainfall, which has caused significant subsidence of the land and road surface in the affected area. Additionally, ongoing construction works have further compromised the safety and stability of the road, making it unsuitable for heavy vehicular traffic.
As a precautionary measure, all heavy vehicles travelling to and from Barak Valley and beyond are now required to use the alternative route via Meghalaya, along National Highway-6 (NH-6), until further notice.
The drivers and transport companies have been urged to comply with this directive to prevent any accidents or further damage to the infrastructure. The ban will remain in effect until the conditions improve and the road is deemed safe for heavy vehicle traffic once again.
