Assam Hackers Involved in Bank Fraud Busted by Police

GUWAHATI: Assam Police has busted five hackers, who were running an organized crime of cyber fraud.

The Rangia Police, in a joint operation with Kampur Police of Nagaon, apprehended the five accused. The modus operandi is popularly known as "Sim swap", where forged articles and information were obtained by spying. The hackers gained access to people's bank account, then transferred the money to their own accounts.


The notable recoveries are rubber stamps, huge numbers of duplicate voter IDs and PAN Cards, seven numbers of mobile handsets, and some other incriminating papers with Rs 25,000 cash.
