Assam Govt Approves New Promotional Avenues For Fisheries Officers

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has amended the Assam Fisheries and Aquaculture Service Rules, 2024, to enhance promotional opportunities for Assistant Fisheries Development Officers (AFDOs).

The decision was made during a state cabinet meeting chaired online by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from Delhi on Wednesday, December 4.

The revised rules will allow AFDOs to be promoted to Fisheries Development Officers (FDOs), with 5% of the total cadre of FDOs—limited to 10 positions—filled from the AFDO cadre based on a notified gradation list.

In a related development, the government also announced the transformation of 97 Sanskrit and Pali Tols into special schools.
