The decision was announced following a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from Delhi on Wednesday, December 4.
The revised rules streamline the process for granting awards and pensions to deserving litterateurs. Under the amendment, recipients of the award must be aged 60 years or above.
If an awardee is already receiving another pension, they will be entitled to a one-time cash award of ₹50,000 and a citation, without additional monthly pension benefits.
Furthermore, recipients of the award will not be eligible to claim a literary pension in the future.
