Assam Govt Allocates ₹175 Crore For Free Drugs & Consumables In Public Hospitals

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has allocated ₹175 crore for the provision of free drugs and consumables across public health institutions, including tea garden hospitals.

This announcement was made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through X on Saturday, November 16. “Ensuring affordable healthcare for all,” he said via his official account.

Under the initiative, patients will be eligible to benefit from free access to essential drugs and consumables, thereby reducing their out-of-pocket healthcare expenses.

The initiative additionally covers tea garden hospitals, as it aims to address all kinds of healthcare challenges faced by workers and their families in the state’s tea industry.

The scheme will come into effect across all the 35 districts of Assam.
