Assam Government to upgrade pay of casual and muster roll employees

GUWAHATI: Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that the salary of 12,860 muster roll and casual employees would be increased in across 52 departments.

Sarma said that the state government had decided to upgrade the pay of muster roll and casual employees to the regular pay scale of Grade IV employees. 

"Those who joined as casual workers prior to 2005 would be most benefited," Sarma added.

As such, those who are working as casual employees with a salary of Rs.3,000 to Rs.4,000 would receive a salary of Rs.18,000 per month. This will include Rs.12,000 basic pay, Rs.3900 grade pay and Rs.600 dearness allowance. Further, an increment of 3 percent will be given to these employees.

It is to be mentioned that with this announcement the state government would be spending Rs.1.76 crore annually. The government has also planned to provide health and medical insurance to these employees.
