Assam Girls Wins Gold In Sepak Takraw Championship

 

GUWAHATI: Assam’s Sepak Takraw teams delivered a stellar performance at the 27th Sub-Junior National Championship for Boys and Girls, held from December 22 to 26, 2024. The teams showcased skills and determination, earning multiple medals across categories and bringing pride to the state.

The Girls Quad Team emerged as the highlight of the tournament, securing a gold medal with a victory over Manipur in the finals. After an initial setback in the first set, the team made a comeback, winning with scores of 13-15, 15-10, and 15-10.  

In addition to the gold, the girls’ team earned bronze medals in both the Team Event and Regu Event. 

Meanwhile, the Boys Quad Team put up a fight, securing the silver medal after a closely contested match against Manipur.

The President of the Assam Sepak Takraw Association (ASTA), Bhabesh Kalita and Bishnu Ram Nunisa, General Secretary of  ASTA expressed their congratulations to the entire squad. 

The championship was hosted in Kerala's Kasaragod district.
