Assam: Fake Indian Currency Notes Seized, Three Arrested in Chirang

GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police seized Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) amounting to ₹18,000 (36 notes of ₹500 denomination) and arrested three persons in Chirang district on May 29.

Acting on a tip-off, an STF team conducted a raid at the residence of Md. Baharul Islam in 2 No. Charagaon under Bijni Police Station, which led to the seizure. Besides, eight bundles of white paper cut to the size of ₹500 notes, with the upper and lower layers of each bundle covered by six FICN ₹500 notes were also seized.

Additionally, one FICN printing machine, four mobile phones, one bundle of A-4 size papers, and a hatchback vehicle were also seized in the operation.
The STF apprehended three individuals - Md. Baharul Islam (30), Md. Dulal Ali (44), and Md. Ajijur Rahman (29) who were allegedly involved in the illicit activities.

Further investigation is underway to uncover more details.
