The individuals named Jaggu Kal and Anjana Kal had gone to bathe in the river after work last Saturday when Anjana was suddenly pulled under the water and drowned. Her husband, Jaggu, trying to save her, also drowned.

Talking to GPlus, a police official from a nearby station to Kamranga, Lakhipur said, “The couple drowned 3-4 days ago while bathing. They were daily wage workers, and we just recovered their bodies yesterday. And they have been sent for autopsy.”

Following the incident 3-4 days ago, local police and SDRF forces launched a search operation, but initial efforts to locate the couple were unsuccessful. On Monday, the bodies of Jaggu and Anjana were found near Lakhipur Kangali Basti, several kilometers from where they originally drowned. The police and SDRF personnel then transported the bodies for post-mortem examination. Further details are now awaited.
