Assam CM Urges Kamrup (M) District Administrative Officials To Take Action Against Land Fraud Cases

GUWAHATI: The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Office of the District Commissioner for Kamrup Metropolitan district, where he personally inspected the "Record Room for Land Related Documents" on December 6.

Accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah, the new District Commissioner (DC) Sumit Sattawan, the outgoing DC Pallav Gopal Jha, and other senior officials of the Office of the District Commissioner, Chief Minister Sarma chaired a meeting to address the alarming issue of forgeries pertaining to land sale deeds, land mutation, and related activities discovered in the Office of the Dispur Revenue Circle.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarma issued clear instructions to the District Commissioner and Circle Officers of the revenue circles to eradicate all land-related scams perpetrated by unscrupulous elements and brokers within their respective offices. He emphasised the urgency of bringing an immediate end to such activities and warned of stern actions against officials failing to comply with his directives.

Sarma also expressed his disdain for the malpractice of land sharks and brokers seizing land from genuine owners through collusion with certain corrupt government officials. He asserted that this unethical alliance tarnishes the government's image and vowed to take all necessary measures to dismantle this nefarious nexus.

Interacting with members of the general public during his visit, Chief Minister Sarma inquired about the reasons for their visits to the DC's office. He urged the District Commissioner to expedite the disposal of applications for various approvals and certificates, ensuring that the public does not face unnecessary hassles and rounds to government offices.
