Assam Cabinet Reshuffle: Himanta Biswa Gets Back Education Portfolio

GUWAHATI: Sarbananda Sonowal-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Assam saw a major reshuffle on Saturday January 18.

While state minister Himanta Biswa Sarma got back the education department and retained his previous portfolios of finance, health and family welfare, transformation and development and PWD.


Siddhartha Bhattacharya lost the education ministry and currently has Guwahati Development Department, law and justice and cooperation. 

Further, two new ministers Mahmora legislator Jogen Mohan and Tinsukia legislator Sanjoy Kishan were sworn in as ministers in the cabinet.

While Jagan Monhan was given Revenue and DM (Independent) and PWD (MoS), Sanjoy Kishan was given Tea Tribe Welfare (Independent), Labour Welfare (MoS).
