Assam Cabinet Approves Rs 2,000 Crore For Rural Infrastructure Improvement

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet on Wednesday, February 2, approved around Rs 2,000 crore for the improvement of rural infrastructure as well as upgrading vital roads in the State.

The Cabinet meeting was chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Assam Secretariat in Guwahati.

During the meeting, the Assam Cabinet approved Rs 958 crore for upgradation of 114 road-cum-embankments and construction of six rural bridges in Bajali, Baksa, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailandi Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara-Mankachar and Tinsukia districts.

Moreover, the Assam Cabinet approved Rs 1,031 crore to upgrade and improve five road projects – Kokrajhar to Rupsi Airport Road; Gohpur-Dholpur road via Ghagrabasti road from Kokchabari to Hawajan; Dirakgate to Penegree road from Dirakgate to Bijulibon; Rowta to Misamari road (Rowta to Kanakata section) and Rowta to Misamari road (Kanakata to Phulagori section).
