GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced that it will provide an entrepreneurship fund of ₹10,000 each to 39,67,743 women members of Self-Help Groups (SHG) in the rural areas, under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan, a scheme aimed to promote entrepreneurship among the rural women of Assam.
The announcement was made by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, who stated that funds have been allocated for the same by the State Government, in her budget speech at the Assam Assembly today on February 12.
It was further announced that the government will facilitate a loan from banks of minimum of ₹25,000 to each beneficiary, and upon the prudent utilization and timely repayment of the loan amount, a capital subsidy of ₹12,500 will be provided to the beneficiary, with each beneficiary getting a grant, subsidy and a minimum loan altogether of ₹47,500.
The Government also announced that the implementation of the scheme will be further extended to around 2.5 lakh SHG member women in urban areas under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan-Nogoria.
