GUWAHATI: A bamboo bridge in the Dhemaji district of Assam collapsed, resulting in injuries to several students who were using the bridge to cross a river on October 26.
The incident reportedly unfolded in the Chahbari region of Dhemaji district as a group of students were making their way to school by crossing the bridge.
Additionally, reports also indicate that local residents responded to the scene upon hearing the distressed cries for help from the students.
A total of 20 students sustained injuries in the incident, with five of them currently in critical condition.
They have been transported to the Dhemaji Civil Hospital for urgent medical treatment and care.
