GUWAHATI: Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal on October 7 announced that the civil service aspirants of Barak Valley who have not studied Assamese, Bengali, or Bodo languages will be exempted from appearing in the qualifying language paper in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) CEE examination.
The announcement was made on the CM's official twitter handle, stating, "Providing relief to students of Barak Valley who have not Assamese, Bengali, or Bodo languages, the CoM has decided to exempt these students from appearing in qualifying language paper in APSC CCE exam."
The candidates who have qualified the preliminary examination need to appear for a qualifying language paper in the main exam, Paper A consisting of 300 marks. The paper is mandatory and the languages approved are Assamese, Bengali, and Bodo.
However, bringing respite to thousands of candidates of the Barak Valley who do not study any of the three languages in school, the Assam government has now exempted them from this qualifying paper.
The registration of APSC (Prelims) is currently going on. The last date of submitting the application is 10th October 2020.
