GUWAHATI: In a momentous address during the 77th Independence Day celebrations, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma revealed the government's comprehensive plans under "Mission Vasundhara 1 and 2," aimed at resolving longstanding land-related issues. With an absolute commitment to bettering the lives of the citizens, the Chief Minister highlighted that the administration has already addressed a staggering 8 lakh complaints pertaining to land disputes.
Chief Minister Sharma laid out the ambitious objectives for the second phase of Mission Vasundhara, where the government is dedicated to addressing and resolving an additional 13 lakh complaints related to land conflicts. Emphasising a revamp of the land reform system, the Chief Minister revealed upcoming changes that are poised to streamline the process and enhance transparency.
In his address, the Chief Minister expressed strong measures to ensure a fair and efficient land registration process. A pivotal aspect of these changes involves the complete abolition of intermediaries in land transactions, aimed at mitigating the potential for disputes. Furthermore, he emphasised the significance of explicitly mentioning the owner's name on land deeds, a step to prevent ambiguity and disputes over property ownership.
Chief Minister Sharma asserted that the administration is committed to resolving land-related disputes promptly. A pivotal highlight of his speech was the government's unwavering dedication to working relentlessly until each citizen is endowed with a land guarantee and a title passbook.
