Approved during a cabinet meeting, this initiative aims to reduce dropout rates and improve access to education in remote areas. The program will be funded with a budget of ₹148.55 crore, benefiting both male and female students throughout the state.

The distribution of bicycles is intended to facilitate safe and timely transportation for students commuting to and from school.

This initiative follows a previous bicycle distribution launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma under the CM's Special Scheme in October last year. During that program, the Chief Minister personally distributed 12,484 bicycles to students in Sonitpur district, benefiting a total of 369,454 Class IX students statewide, with an allocation of ₹161 crore.
