Assam To Give Land To NFR For Azara- Kamakhya Double Tracks

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government will hand over eight bighas of land to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) for the construction of double tracks.

This will allow for two-way train travel between Azara and Kamakhya, improving transport efficiency in the region.

The decision made during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, September 24 aims to enhance the capacity of the regional railway network and improve train services.

Additionally, the initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for local youth, contributing to economic growth in the region.

In the cabinet meeting, the government took other decisions like initiatives to enhance education, including providing bicycles to class IX students, expanding technical education through new polytechnic institutes, and ensuring arrear salaries for teachers in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) schools.

The government also plans to streamline academic activities in government engineering colleges and address pay scale anomalies for various positions under the Directorate of Land Records & Surveys, Assam.
