Assam: 63 Cadres of ULFA(I) and Other Militant Groups Surrender

GUWAHATI: A total of 63 cadres of 8 militant groups surrendered at an event in Guwahati, in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. 


"I welcome the 63 members of ULFA(I), PDCK, DNLA & UPRF who joined the mainstream by laying down arms today in Guwahati. I appeal to them to start a new beginning and contribute towards the development of the state," Assam Chief Minister (CM) Sarbananda Sonowal posted on Twitter. 


The militants include 17 from the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I), 32 are members of the United People’s Revolutionary Front, a Kuki militant outfit, and the rest are from the Dimasa National Liberation Army and People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri. This was informed to G Plus by Inspector General of Police (Special Branch), Hiren Nath.
