GUWAHATI: The Assam Government during the state cabinet meeting on October 2, announced its intention to frame a policy for the reservation of 5% of seats in MBBS and BDS courses.
These reserved seats will be allocated exclusively to students who have pursued their education from Class VII to X in Government Schools under the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), and continued their studies in Classes XI and XII in State Government and Provincialised Schools under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
The decision is expected to promote a level playing field in the field of medical education, ensuring that talented students who have studied in government schools have an equal opportunity to pursue MBBS and BDS courses in Government Medical and Dental Colleges.
