GUWAHATI: A 15-month-old boy, Rubel Alam lost his little finger due to a severe medical error during his treatment at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta on October 26.
According to media reports, the incident occurred during the discharge process.
Rubel Alam had been admitted to Barpeta's Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital for pneumonia treatment just over a week ago.
During the discharge process today, a ward boy was tasked with removing the cannula from the infant's hand but mistakenly amputated Rubel's little finger.
This incident has left the child physically handicapped, and understandably, his family is distraught.
They are now seeking compensation for the medical mishap and have made an appeal to the government for assistance, as per reports.
