The cash-for-job case was registered by Dibrugarh police in October 2016, when a job aspirant lodged a complaint that Nabakanta Patir, an engineer, has offered her a government job through APSC if she pays a bribe of Rs 10 lakh.

Based on a case (2/2017) with the Dibrugarh police, 63 gazetted officers were arrested, sent to jail, suspended and then dismissed from services.
