Amidst Lockdown Fire Breaks Out at Several Places in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident a fire broke out at Lalmati near the Games Village in Guwahati at 7:30 pm on March 30.

According to locals, the fire broke out opposite to Brahmaputra Board, and gutted down around 5 shops.

The shops were mostly small shops selling groceries and other essentials and a medical shop. However, due to the lock-down no casualties were reports. 

Six fire tenders rushed into the spot and extinguishing operations carried on when reported.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but locals alleged the incident happened that due to short circuit.

Meanwhile, small forest fires were also reported from behind Axel Hospital at Guwahati Bypass, Noonmati Kenduguri Hill and near Sankaradeva Kalashetra. 

The fire that occurred in the forest area near Kalashetra also engulfed a scooty parked nearby bearing registration number AS 01 DP 9816.

In another instance, a fire was reported Pandu Fire and Emergency services station near Khanamukh forest school, however no casualties were reported.

However, fire brigades have successfully doused the fires.
