Ahoms are Foreigner, Miya Muslim are Indigenous People: AIUDF MLA

GUWAHATI: Addressing a public meeting at Moirabari, AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam said that Ahoms are not indigenous people in Assam.

Dhing MLA said,“Ahoms came from Yunnan province of China-Myanmar boder. That province was never a part of India. They came from a foreign land.”

Islam said that Bengali-speaking Miya Muslims who migrated from East Pakistan or erstwhile Bengal province belong to the indigenous community of Assam.

“Our ancestors came from a district which was a part of undivided India. Why we are not indigenous?” Islam further added.
