Actress Seema Biswas donates Rs 5 lakhs for Assam flood victims

GUWAHATI: The Assam flood situation, which is still looking grim, has seen a number of celebrities, both regional and national come forward and help those affected by it. 

Most recently, renowned actress Seema Biswas donated Rs. 5 lakhs to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to help victims of the floods. 

Biswas is an Indian film and theatre actress from Nalbari, who shot into prominence with the role of Phoolan Devi in Shekhar Kapur’s film, Bandit Queen, for which she also won the National Award for Best Actress. 

Earlier, sprinter Hima Das, filmmaker Rima Das, cricketer Riyan Parag, actor Jatin Bora among others from Assam donated for the relief of flood victims in the state. 

As of Friday, July 19, 48.87 lakh people from 27 of the 33 districts have been affected by the floods and the death toll has increased to 47.
