95 New Ambulances launched under 108-Mrityunjay

In an event held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremoniously launched  95 nos of new ambulances under 108 Mritunjay. With the new fleet of ambulances, Himanta wants to bring down the response time of the 108 ambulances from 25 minutes to 10 minutes in urban areas and 15 minutes in rural areas.

Himanta while launching the service, said, "We want to rejuvenate the 108 ambulance service. The standard of the technicians and pilots of the ambulances are deteriorating, and we are focussing to improve their skills and increase their capacity."

The minister further added that the healh department receives mails and messages everyday regarding poor services of the ambulances, which is why the department has added a fleet of 95 new ambulances under 108 Mrityunjay service.

The minister also plans to add 150 more ambulances within next 2 months.
Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, during the launch event said, "In the past, we've received many complaints where ambulances haven't reached on time. In the days to come, we want to improve our services."
