GUWAHATI: Karbi Anglong police have apprehended six individuals in connection with the alleged abduction and brutal murder of Ratan Dutta, a local railway contractor, on Tuesday, December 24. Among those arrested are two former members of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) and two ex-cadres of the All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA).

Speaking to GPlus, Superintendent of Police (SP) Karbi Anglong confirmed the details, saying, “Dutta was abducted on the evening of December 19 at approximately 7 pm from Barlangfer by a group of insurgents. The contractor's family lodged a missing person report the following evening, prompting police action.”
“The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barlangfer police station informed me about the missing person complaint on December 20 at around 9 pm. A preliminary investigation was promptly initiated. Tragically, on December 24, Dutta’s body was discovered in the forested area of Dhansiri Wildlife Sanctuary,” he added.
Further investigation is underway.
