Further, it stated that in a particular day, eight people were killed and 20 injured in road accidents on an average.

Director General of Police, Kuladhar Saikia said that the lack of knowledge of road safety rules and negligent and callous driving are few of the main reasons for these accidents.

Saikia also mentioned that a lot of these accidents could be prevented.

Road accidents have risen by 15 percent in 2018 compared to 2017 and fatalities have increased by six percent and injuries increased by 19 percent.
