GUWAHATI: As part of the counter-insurgency operations against the militant outfits, city police on Saturday detained as many as seventeen ULFA-I linkmen from different parts of the city.
Each linkman was detained for several cases related to the ULFA-I activities and are currently being interrogated by the police.
Officials in the police informed that the linkmen have been deatined as a precautionary measure in the wake of the terror activities reported from different parts of the state.

The police is now keeping a strict vigil in areas of Noonmati, Chandrapur, Paltanbazar including several hilly areas of the city.
