12-Day Long 33rd Guwahati Book Fair Concludes

GUWAHATI: The 33rd Guwahati Book Fair held at the Assam Engineering Institute Field at Chandmari came to a conclusion on Sunday, 10th January. The book fair saw great success with thousands of people visiting it daily amid the pandemic.


The book fair which was inaugurated on 30th December last saw footfall of 25,000 - 1 lakh each day. The final sale of books reached almost Rs. 8 crores, as told by the Secretary of the Publication Board, Pramod Kalita.


The books with the highest sales were ‘Life of a Driver – Cabin’or Epare’ by Rupam Dutta, Hiren Bhattacharya’s ‘Total Collection of Poems’ and the translation of Narendra Modi’s ‘Letter to Mother’ called ‘Aai Loi Sithi’ by Utpal Dutta. This was informed to G Plus by Kalita.


In addition to these, ‘Morey Asom Jiye Kon’ by Rita Chowdhury and one of the old gems of Assamese literature, ‘Asimat Jar Heral Seema’ also witnessed decent sales. A biography of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also received a good response.
