GUWAHATI: A rescue unfolded in the Chatribari Bilpar area of Guwahati near K.C. Das Commerce College on April 4 around 2.30 PM. Locals present near the scene rushed to save the woman, identified as Swapna Nandi, from drowning. The incident was then alerted to the local authorities.

According to eyewitness Anurag Pandey, the woman was spotted struggling in the water body. With delays in the arrival of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), locals took matters into their own hands, rescuing her from potential tragedy.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from the Paltan Bazaar police station said, " The circumstances surrounding the incident, whether it was a suicide attempt or not, still remain unclear. She was taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for urgent medical attention. Once her condition stabilises, we will conduct further inquiries."
