GUWAHATI: In preparation for the second phase of the panchayat elections scheduled for May 7, polling parties in Kamrup Metro District have been dispatched to their respective polling centres. Today, ballot boxes and other essential election materials were distributed to the polling teams at the Jalukbari and Dimoria mouza offices.

A total of 266 polling centres have been set up across the two mouzas, with 66 centers in Jalukbari and 200 in Dimoria. The district has a total of 1,89,021 voters, comprising 97,588 women, 91,425 men, and 8 voters from the third gender.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the polling process, approximately 307 presiding officers and 921 polling officers have been deployed, along with adequate security personnel. The Kamrup Metro District administration has taken all necessary measures to facilitate a peaceful and efficient voting process.
The panchayat elections in Kamrup Metro District will cover 6 Zilla Parishad seats, 3 Anchalik Parishad seats, and 20 Gram Panchayat seats, with a total of 200 wards.
