GUWAHATI : A team of Food Safety Officer Kamrup (M) District seized and destroyed 12.5 quintals of mangoes at Fancy Bazaar today in the morning at 6:30 am.
Food Safety Officers, Tarun Das, Sumiran Baruah and Anil Sarmah were present at the time of the raid.
The fruits seized by the team have been ripened by using chemical like carbide. Later sellers themselves destroyed the seized fruits with the help of GMC officials at the spot.
The approximate cost of the fruits is assessed at Rupees 62,000.
