GUWAHATI: Food delivery executives of Zomato struck work and staged a protest on VIP road in Guwahati on Wednesday, April 6, demanding a rollback of a new work process and a hike in incentives.

As per the new rate card, the incentives received by the delivery executives would be much less than the previous amount they used to make, the protestors told G Plus.

“They have changed the rate card for our services. Our daily and weekly incentives have been stopped. We are striking work because we are beset with problems on all sides,” a delivery executive protesting in the area said.

Protestors were seen raising slogans against the food ordering app on the roads and threatening to suspend services in Guwahati.

“We don’t want any gigs, we just want our earlier rate card back. Earlier we had to commit just 7-8 hours of work per day. Today we cannot make the same money if we work 12 hours a day,” a protesting delivery executive said.

“The rate card applicable till 2 April 2022 was reasonable and we could earn up to Rs 1000 if we put in 12-13 hours, more if we put in overtime. Then team leaders held a meeting and informed us of a new process. Now we have to notify today if we will be working tomorrow,” another protestor said.

Incidentally, these workers went offline in protest on the same day that Zomato services across the nation were hit by technical glitches.
