STF Assam Seizes Yaba Tablets & Heroin In Amingaon Near Guwahati

 

GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police seized a consignment of narcotics valued at approximately ₹70 crore during an operation in Amingaon on Friday, April 18. The operation was carried out following two separate intelligence inputs.

STF Assam intercepted two vehicles, from which they recovered 2,70,000 Yaba tablets and 40 soap boxes containing an estimated 520 grams of heroin. The operation was led by STF Chief Parthasarathi Mahanta, with support from Additional Superintendent of Police (STF) Kalyan Pathak.

Two individuals suspected to be couriers of the seized drugs were apprehended at the scene. Both are currently under interrogation as investigations continue to uncover the broader network behind the smuggling route.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to the seizure on X, commending the STF's work. “₹70 crore worth of wild party plans? Not happening! Thanks to @STFAssam. 2,70,000 YABA tablets seized Amingaon. Two key peddlers busted. Drugs won’t pass. Not in Assam,” he posted.

Earlier, on Friday, April 11, STF Assam intercepted a bus at the Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Guwahati. A total of 455 grams of heroin was recovered during that raid, and two individuals were arrested. The vehicle involved was also confiscated.
