GUWAHATI: A workshop called “Media Workshop on Weather and Climate Information” was organised by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati.
The said workshop was presided over by the DDGM RMC, Sanjay O’Neill Shaw along with ex-DDGMs Hara Govinda Pathak and SN Deka. Also present were Sunit Das, Scientist-E and Atul Singh, Scientist-C.
Sanjay Shaw described the various services provided by RMC and the weather forecast and warnings issued by them.
An interactive session was held with media personnel on how to present update and aware the masses at report time. They welcomed suggestions on the same.
At present people around the country can get updated weather report on there recently launched website https://mausam.imd.gov.in/ or call up the national toll free no. 1800 220 161. The RMC Guwahati office also has a website, www.imdguwahati.gov.in .
It is to be mentioned that RMC, Guwahati is responsible for providing aviation, non-aviation and defence weather forecast for three meteorological sub-divisions of NE India (viz. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura) through its regional Head-Quater at Guwahati and other offices situated at different locations of the regions.
