GUWAHATI: In the recent case of physical assault by Abhisekh Mahajan, Post Graduate Trainee (PGT) of Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G), on a patient admitted to the O&G department at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), he has been expelled from Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, Guwahati, effective immediately, for a period of one year.

In response to a complaint lodged by the husband of the victim, Mrinal Ali against Abhishek Mahajan, wherein an enquiry committee was convened to investigate the alleged assault on Mrinal's wife in the labour room of GMCH, Guwahati.
After a thorough examination of the incident, the committee has confirmed the occurrence of the assault. Additionally, Abhishek Mahajan has confessed to his involvement in the assault.
The decision of Mahajan’s expulsion has been taken due to his misconduct, misbehavior, and unethical practice within the medical college premises while on duty.
