Work On Ropeway To Kamakhya Temple In Guwahati Awaits Land Acquisition Approval

GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway is planning to construct a ropeway from the Kamakhya Station to the Kamakhya Devalaya (Temple). This project is a part of the Railways to make the Kamakhya Railway Station a world-class station benefitting the pilgrims and visitors.

During the Independence Day Celebrations of the Northeast Frontier Railway held at the NFRSA Complex, Maligaon, Anshul Gupta, General Manager of NF Railway, in his speech, said that the NFR is planning on constructing the ropeway from the Kamakhya Station to the Kamakhya Temple. 

While speaking to G Plus, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northeast Frontier Railway, Sabyasachi De said, “The project has been planned and proposed to the Kamakhya Temple Authorities and we are now waiting for the approval of the temple authorities on the land acquisition since one of the pylons would be placed there. Once we get a nod from them the pylon will be placed and the construction of the ropeway station will start and hopefully, will be completed in a year’s time.”

Earlier this year, on February 13, Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Railways to undertake the project.
