Woman, Attacked by Alleged Druggie in Guwahati, Fighting for Life in Delhi

GUWAHATI: A woman named Sabita Rani Devi is in a critical condition in Delhi's Apollo Hospital after having being attacked by an unidentified miscreant in Guwahati. The incident happened on Lakheswar Baruah Road, New Guwahati on December 8. 


Devi was taken to Delhi on an air ambulance on December 14 after her condition deteriorated. Sabita Rani now has a damaged kidney and the family members have revealed that the blow one her head has triggered the situation.


Earlier, she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the GNRC Hospital. The 52-year old was on an evening walk when she was allegedly assaulted by some miscreants on a bike who snatched her mobile phone. 


The police have arrested one and recovered the stolen items. "This was done by one person who has a history with drugs. We have sent him to jail," said Pabitra Bhuyan, Noonmati Police Officer in Charge (OC).  


Meanwhile, Devi's son, Arban Kumar Sharma, has expressed concerns that there might be further people involved in the case.
