GUWAHATI: In a devastating turn of events, a 56-year-old woman was reportedly charred to death on Monday morning in the Bamunimaidan area of Guwahati.
The deceased has been identified as Alaka Sharma, a resident of Jyotinagar in Bamunimaidan.
The Chandmari Police while speaking to G Plus said that Alaka Sharma had a regular routine of burning garbage in a 5ft pit every day at 5 AM.
Tragically, this morning, while following her usual routine, she encountered a dreadful accident when she slipped and fell into the pit where she was disposing of the garbage by burning it.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Chandmari police promptly arrived at the scene. They recovered the woman's body and subsequently sent it to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.
“We also found her phone in the ditch and we suspect that she slipped while trying to retrieve her phone from the burning ditch,” the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandmari Police Station told G Plus.
