GUWAHATI: A 20-year-old woman from Karbi Anglong was allegedly gang-raped at Rashmi Hotel in Rajgarh, Guwahati, on the night of February 25. The accused, Chandan Mahanta, owner of ABC Grill Junction, and his employee Rohan Ali, have been arrested by Paltan Bazar police.
According to DCP Central Guwahati Amitabh Basumatary, the survivor filed a complaint at 9 PM on March 1, stating that the accused had offered liquor and cannabis to her and a friend at a restaurant. While her friend refused to go with them, the survivor accompanied them to the hotel, where they allegedly forced her to consume alcohol again before sexually assaulting her.
Speaking to GPlus, DCP Basumatary said that the police are taking strict action against the accused, and an investigation is underway. Authorities have assured that all necessary legal steps will be taken, and further details are expected as the probe continues.
