A resident of the area, while speaking to GPlus said, “It has been almost 45 days since the road was broken to build new one. But no work has started. We face a lot of difficulties, especially during rains.”

A shopkeeper in the area said, “the contractor doesn’t pay wages to the workers. I know a man, Sariful… He was working as a labourer here. He told me that the workers have refused to work until they get paid their daily wages.”

Another resident of the area said, “it’s pathetic…No E-rickshaws, cabs or garbage vans wish to come inside…We have been hoping for a positive development for long since now.”

SAME TALE, ANOTHER PLACE

About a kilometre away, residents of Hatath Colony of Pandu's Rest Camp area share similar concerns about their road and drains.

One of them ,while speaking to GPlus, said, "It has been the same situation here for many years..Drains are broken. Authorities take no step to solve the problem... We find it difficult to commute through the road during rain."

An elderly lady said, "we have lost all hopes of repairs by now. Few months back some officials came here for road survey... They  assured us that the drains would be built soon and the road be repaired, but nothing has happened till now. Our children face a lot of issues during rain... They are unable to set out for schools."

However, when contacted, the authorities assured that they would look into the issues soon. "We are working tirelessly to build all the drains before the monsoon.  Moreover,  the cleaning process of the drains is underway. After that we will start repairing the roads," an official from PWD cited.
