According to reports, Das lured locals into investing in his trading scheme by promising substantial returns. Initially, he gained their trust by repaying investors along with interest. However, as the investments grew, he began citing trading losses and eventually stopped making repayments.
Earlier, a complaint was lodged at Rani Outpost against Das and his family members, accusing them of running illegal trading operations and defrauding the public of approximately ₹50 crore. The complaint also names his father, mother, fiancée, a friend, and an associate as alleged co-conspirators in soliciting investments under false pretences.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Rani Outpost stated that Das had been absconding for six months before returning to the area. "Upon his arrival after near about six months, he was caught by locals, and we were informed. A formal complaint has been filed against him and his family for allegedly operating illegal trading activities and defrauding the public. The matter is under investigation," the official said.
